A.VIE - Streaming Video in Education

 A.VIE Video Streaming in Education

The Library has completed the finishing touches on a secure open source system for the Library’s streaming video collection. Named “Audio.Video in Education” or “A.VIE” this program not only will deliver a viewable video to a student computer or classroom, but is also a repository for the digital videos in the library’s collection as well as providing a scheduling program for staff to help faculty and students schedule (or immediately view) videos that have limited streaming permission.

To view a video from this collection, you can use the Library catalog to search:
  • for a specific video title,
  • use the keywords  "online videos" to see all the titles available in this format, or
  • click on the link that faculty imbed on a Blackboard course page or syllabus.
The video will begin to play. For off-campus viewing, the user will be prompted for a log-in first. If the video has viewing restrictions, a page will display with information about contacting the library to either schedule the video, or make it immediately available for viewing online for a limited period of time due to streaming permissions and copyright requirements.
