Forbidden: Great Gatsby & other classics part of a ban attempt. Why?

 Did you know that Great Gatsby, was challenged to be included in the library's collection at the Baptist College in Charleston, SC (1987) because of "language and sexual references in the book."
See other classic titles that were targets of ban attempts in libraries.

The Metro Campus Library is hosting a presentation about censorship attempts and banned books in libraries with free pizza for lunch, in the Film & Lecture Room (near the bookstore) on Wednesday, Sept 25th at Noon.

Learn how can 4 simple words (Talk to You Later) ban a book from a library?

Explaining the challenge to TTYL and other books, Metro Campus Library is hosting a Banned Books Week presentation on Wednesday, Sept 25th at Noon in the Film & Lecture Room (near the book store).

  • Have a slice or two of pizza (thank you, Student Activities)
  • Help celebrate the freedom to read during Banned Books Week
  • Learn about censorship and why these and other famous books have been banned from libraries.

Celebrate Peace with Poetry in SEC Library! Thursday, Sept. 19th

We are observing International Day of Peace with "Poetry for Peace", please come and join us!
  • Participate in Sidewalk Poetry! (write poetry on sidewalk with chalk)
  • Eat some snacks!
  • Share your own peace poetry or writings,  or a favorite piece by another writer! 
  • Or just come and listen!
When: Thursday, Sept. 19th, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Explore our Oklahoma Collection!

TCC Northeast Campus Library is home to the Oklahoma Collection, featuring books and materials related to all things Oklahoma. The collection features items related to the history of our great state, including notable personalities, Okie dictionaries, and bound periodicals such as Chronicle of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Today – allowing users to explore the entire state from inside the library! Oklahoma Collection items are easily identifiable by the amber “Local History” label on the front cover of the book.
You can search our Oklahoma Collection in the library catalog on the Library's website http://library.tulsacc.edu  To begin your search within the Books tab, use the Limit To dropdown menu and select Northeast Oklahoma Collection.
